Looking to overcome those things that are holding you back, that cause worry and stress, and stop you being your everyday best?

There are other ways to cope

Addictions, binge-drinking, and gambling

If drug use, alcohol or gambling has become your go to place then hypnotherapy is one of the best therapeutic tools available to you. Many people report that they don’t have an ‘off switch’, once you start it is hard to stop. This lack of control can have dire consequences, in your relationships and your job.

We will show you that you have control and along the way tackle anything that may make you prone to obsessive and compulsive behaviour. In simple terms this could just mean that we help you tame your immediate need for gratification and it doesn’t need to be all or nothing.

Overcoming Anxiety

Much more than relaxation

A Strategically trained hypnotherapist will do much more than teach you relaxation skills. We will give you the techniques to change the catastrophising, the agitation, the uncertainty and the over analysis.

Prolonged periods of stress have potential consequences for your long term health. The good news is that our form of hypnotherapy is solution orientated, is a natural relief and we aim for minimal meetings when it comes to the treatment of anxiety and anxiety related issues.

Quick to anger?

Overcoming anger

Anger is a complex emotional response often rooted in feelings of frustration, helplessness, or perceived threats. It can arise from unmet needs, unresolved trauma, or chronic stress. At its core, anger is a natural survival mechanism designed to protect us from danger, but when it becomes a habitual response, it can harm relationships, well-being, and overall quality of life. Often, underlying issues like fear, sadness, or feelings of inadequacy are masked by anger, leading to a cycle of reactive behaviour.

By guiding clients to uncover the triggers and underlying emotions fuelling their anger, we work to reframe these experiences, release pent-up feelings, and develop healthier coping strategies. Helping you to regain control, reduce emotional reactivity, and cultivate a sense of inner peace.

Managing Pain

Pain is always real and personal

The efficacy of hypnosis treatment for pain control is well documented. Hypnosis studies out of Stanford and Harvard Universities alone validate the extraordinary effectiveness of hypnosis as a treatment option for many forms of pain, whether the issue is psychosomatic or a real physical injury. No matter what, when any one of us is challenged with injury or illness there is a component of the problem that can be attributed to “suffering”. We can easily fall victim to negative thoughts, a sense of injustice, or a straight out sense of victimisation.

It is crucial that before we work together that you have had all of the appropriate medical tests, and that you know what it is, and what it isn’t.

Irrational Fears?

Phobias

A phobia is defined as an irrational fear. The most common ones we deal with are the fear of flying, heights, spiders, snakes, birds, various other animals, and all forms of social phobias. They can be very debilitating and stop you being your best. Typically someone suffering from phobias is likely to also lean towards being a bit of a worrier, and so more generalised anxiety also needs to be dealt with.

No matter what it is or how long you have had it, all phobias are rooted in a fear-based anxiety that can be dealt with through some simple techniques. You do not have to succumb to your fears.

Controlling weight

Finding it difficult to lose or gain weight

Weight loss or gain needs to be tackled from a number of angles. We need to look at your associations to food. Is it a reward? Is it used as comfort? What beliefs do you have around food and how much knowledge do you have about nutrition – energy in and energy out. Are you exercise adverse, or are you carrying injuries that prevent you from being physically active. Are you ‘addicted’ to certain types of foods?

We use hypnosis to tackle unhelpful beliefs, habits and associations. Hypnosis can help you change your associations to food, and maybe deal with any emotional underpinnings that may drive use of food as a source of comfort.

Having said that, hypnosis is only part of the solution. The other part, and in many ways the most important part, is a good healthy long-term eating plan. When you come to your first consultation we will devise a plan, in conjunction with dieticians, for you to give you long-term support as you need it.

Unable to quit?

Smoking

Smokers are increasingly asked to limit their habit to particular areas, and tax increases have meant it is now a very expensive habit. The damage of long-term smoke inhalation has been well proven: we know that smoke inhalation is not healthy for our bodies.

Everybody smokes for a different reason and in order to have long term outcomes we explore how you decide to do it and why you do it specifically. We will ask you very simply “what do you think a cigarette gives you that you cannot do for yourself?” Your answer will inform our treatment strategy.

American studies show that hypnosis is much more effective than any other intervention (including patches) when it comes to quitting smoking, and anecdotally we see great results. What we would point out is that smoking can be a simple or a complex behaviour and that we need to look at why you smoke, how you smoke, when you smoke, when you don’t smoke as much, and what happens when you’re not allowed to smoke like in a plane or some other such venue. We want to find out if it’s just a habit or the way you cope with stress and anxiety or perhaps it is a more complex strategy for you.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

If you’re struggling with obsessive-compulsive behaviour then hypnosis can be one of the most effective tools you are ever likely to come across. Obviously obsessive-compulsive disorders are very closely linked to anxiety. Any treatment plan that we would offer would include dealing with the larger, more generalised anxiety first, then we would deal with the specific OCD behaviour. This way we effectively stop the symptoms first, then go after the specific cause.

This is a tried, tested and proven method of dealing with OCD. Trying to free you of the OCD whilst allowing you to keep feeding the anxiety, will impede treatment. The good news is that no matter how long you have had the issue, we can address with minimal meetings. It is a process you run, it is not you.
